- Steamboat Roubaix is subject to USAC road racing rules including junior gearing and road bike rules.
- Steamboat Roubaix is a USA Cycling permitted road race, and requires an annual or one day racing membership with USA Cycling and CO Cycling, not including Gran Fondo categories.
- A ‘1-day’ beginner USA Cycling membership is available at $15 for Category 5 and FREE for junior racers.

- All participants must sign the release waiver with parent/guardian present to sign for anyone 18 or younger.

- If you need to cancel your entry get a full refund (not including Bikereg fees) through May 1st. After May 1st no refunds are possible. Registration fee insurance is available via Bikereg.
- If we have to cancel the event before race day due to Covid-19, extreme weather, or other outside factors we will refund 75% of your entry fee (not including bikereg surcharges).
- If category minimums are not met prooter may combine categories, adjust prize lists, or cancel specific categories.
- We cannot be responsible for your lodging cost in any cancellation situation, please review lodging cancellation/credit policies.
- This could get rough, so we suggest durable 30mm or larger tires, along with packing spare tubes, pump, Co2.
- Roaming neutral support will be on course, however you must come self sufficient to repair your flats.
- Spring in the Rockies can bring wet weather, even snow, but historically our roads are dry with temps in the 50’s to 60’s. Come ready for nasty conditions as the race will be run as long as you can pedal a bike.
Racer number pickup and race start will be at the Rodeo Grounds in downtown Steamboat Springs.

- USA Cycling categories require a USAC license either as annual, 1-day beginner (cat 5 only), ‘experienced’ 1-day (former categorized racers), or a free junior license.
- Gran Fondo categories do not require a USA License.
- USA Cycling involvement allows us access to event insurance, professional race officials, and strict guidelines around safety and fair racing rules.
New racers can rock the 36 mile course either as a USA Cycling ‘cat 5’ for men and ‘cat 4’ for women. Or select the Gran Fondo category. Category 5 is a great opportunity to get your feet wet (and maybe muddy) racing in a group of similar ability while the gran fondo can be a range of abilities.
We suggest pre-riding the course to test your equipment as well as riding in a group before you toe the line. And if you’re new, don’t hesitate to ask us questions.
They could be pretty rough, but by late May they are typically on the smooth/hard side with occasional rough patches here and there. We will post plenty of updates in the month ahead of the race sharing road conditions.
A road or gravel bike with durable ~30mm tires should do the trick, but part of the challenge with Roubaix is reading the conditions leading up to race day and making the call on what will yield the best balance of speed and durability for you.
You will be on open roads requiring your attention to vehicles and road signage. One aspect that makes Roubaix different from most gravel races is our use of categorized start groups that are accompanied by a moto official, rather than a mass start of every participant at the same time. If you get dropped from your group, please stay to the right side of the road in order to not impede vehicles.
Follow the event website the week prior for the latest conditions. Dangerous snowy conditions will result in a cancelled or rescheduled event, however if it’s only wet and cold we run the race!
